Corps Members Donate Food To Aged People’s Home
Some members of the
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Cross River State, have donated some food stuffs and toiletries to Good Samaritan Home for the aged in Calabar.
The corps members, who belong to the Community Development Service Group on Charity, donated three bags of rice, six packets of maggi cubes, three cartoons of tin tomatoes, groundnut oil, detergent, soap and others.
President of the group, Mr Godwin Uche, said that the donation was part of the group’s objective to care for the needy and aged in the society.
Uche said it was important to remember the aged in the society, adding that the group would continue to remember them in its activities.
Another member of the group, Mrs Theresa Ibekwe, said the group had to carry out the donation because the inmate in the home needed care and love from members of the public.
“We had to task ourselves of a little token to help us carry out this humanitarian donation.
“It is important to show love and care to the aged in the society, and that is exactly what the charity group is doing,’’ Ibekwe said.
Receiving the donation, a guardian in the home, Mrs Gordismaria Ugwoke, thanked the group for their humanitarian gesture.
Ugwoke said that the gifts would go a long way to take care of the needs of the inmates, and prayed for God’s blessing in all their endeavours.
She used the opportunity to call on philanthropists and corporate organisations to emulate the corps members by showing love and care to the inmates.
