NGOs To Partner US Agency On Niger Delta Dev
A collaboration of non-
governmental organizations with focus on Niger Delta Development has concluded plans to tackle the menace of underdevelopment and poverty in the Niger Delta region.
The NGOs including the Niger Delta Civic Engagement Forum (NDCEF), Foundation for Partnership Initiatives of Niger Delta (PIND) and United State Agency for International Development (USAID) made this known in a statement siged by Charles Abani of Strengthening Advocacy and Civic Engagement Project and made available to The Tide in Port Harcourt.
According to the statement, a five-year project tagged, “Strengthening Advocacy and Civil Engagement Project”, has already been approved for implementation and funding by USAID and Chemonies International in collaboration with PIND for Niger Delta development.
The project, the statement added was designed to address democratic ills of the nation.
Apart from strengthening civil society, the statement also said the project would go a long way, in influencing development and fast-tracking democratic reforms in Niger Delta.
Meanwhile, the 2015 Niger Delta Civic Engagement Forum holds special session in Port Harcourt to discuss critical issue affecting citizen in the process of building inclusive growth in the oil rich Niger Delta region.
According sources, the forum intends to use the platfore to propose ways forward in tackling challenges confronting Niger Delta developments and security.
