Gov-Elect Lauds Firm Over Plans To Dredge River Benue
The Benue State Gov-
elect, Dr. Samuel Ortom, has commended a private dredging firm for installing a dredging machine at the bank of River Benue.
Ortom, who made the commendation on Saturday in Makurdi, specifically lauded the Executive Director of Tojema Nigeria Limited, Mr. Mark Hanmation. who owns the plant.
He said that the initiative conformed to his incoming administration’s idea on development.
The governor-elect said there were a thousand and one creative ideas that could be converted into valuable ventures and appealed to the people to look around them and seize the numerous available opportunities.
Ortom, who is the immediate past Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment, said his incoming administration would create enabling environment for the private sector to thrive in the state.
He commended Hanmation for the initiative and assured him of government support and partnership when he assumed office.
Ortom disclosed that during his recent trip to China he had opened discussion with a Chinese firm for the establishment of a glass factory in Makurdi.
“It would be for the utilisation of the abundant sharp sand in the area, which is among the best in the world”, adding that the project would be actualised when he takes over on May 29.
Earlier, Hanmation had explained that the machine was capable of pumping 1,000 trips of sand daily and would provide employment to hundreds of people in the state.
