RSUST Attributes Success To Hardwork
The Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) has attributed its current rating as the number one state University in the country to its level of productivity.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Barineme Fakae, who said this at the 33rd inaugural lecture series of the University, also said that the Institution will continue to respond to the needs and aspirations of the people of its catchment areas.
He said that, the series of inaugural lectures were in line with the desires of the University to seek for solutions to the on-going problems of the Niger Delta, especially in the areas of erosion and pollution control.
The Vice Chancellor further said that Professors in the institution have distinguished themselves in their various fields of academic endeavours, stressing that they have also contributed to the body of knowledge in the world.
Speaking on the lecture entitled: “Rock of Ages: Foundation for wealth and development,” Fakae said that the lecture has shown the need for people incharge of building structures to ensure that the proper things were done to check the incessant cases of collapse of buildings and other structures.
He said that people must not compromise standard as far as building was concerned, adding that the University was ready to offer its technical support to the society in any area.
Earlier, the guest lecturer, Professor Tamunoene Kingdom Simeon Abam called for measures to check the issue of flooding in the Niger Delta.
Abam described geology as one field of study that has done so much to improve the entire human society.
He further stressed the need for more research efforts to check flooding and erosion in the society.
