Perm Sec Tasks Info Officers On Service Delivery
The Permanent
Secretary, Cross River State Ministry of Information, Mr. Freedom Ejom, has urged Information Officers in the ministry to put in their best while executing their duties as this would lead to job excellence.
Mr. Ejom stated this while declaring open, an In-House Training programme organised by the Department of Information for her newly employed Information Officers recently in Calabar.
He noted that for an Information Officer to be regarded as being worth his salt, he must draw a feasible roadmap which would make him or her stand out of the crowd, adding that “despite starting your carrier as Information Officers, you do not know where the tide will take you or where you would end up, so put the best into all your endeavour”.
The Permanent Secretary lauded the Director of Information, Mrs. Mary Akpet, for her leadership quality and appealed to the Information Officers that despite the constraints such as lack of funds that they should continue to endure and be patient as “tough times do not last but tough people do”.
In her response, the Director of Information, Mrs. Mary Akpet expressed appreciation on behalf of the Information Officers and thanked the Permanent Secretary for availing them his time.
She also commended the Information Officers for their comportment since assumption of duties and urged them to up and doing.
The in-house training started with a lecture on “Report Writing and the Use of English” which was presented by Mrs. Mary Akpet. She stressed the need to write news reports that were accurate, concise, clear and devoid of ambiguity. She added that reports should be properly researched, analyzed and evaluated to suit the purpose which they set out to achieve.
Assistant Director of Information, Mrs. Anita Ekpenyong in a vote of thanks, commended Mrs. Mary Akpet for the impartation and assured her that the knowledge gained from the lecture would be assiduously put to use in order to create necessary impact in the course of their duties.
