NUJ Condemns Abduction Of Ndigbara
The Rivers State Council
of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) has condemned in strong terms the abduction of the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Freddy Ndigbara at his home town, Kaani in Khana Local Government Area.
The NUJ in a statement issued by its State Chairman, Mr. Opaka Dokubo and the Secretary, Mr. Stanley Job Stanley expressed worry at the spate of kidnap cases that had occurred in recent times.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to the Rivers State Governor, Mr. David Iyofor has called for the immediate, unconditional release of one of his staff, Mr. Freddy Ndigbara who was abducted by unknown gunmen on Sunday in Kaani Community of Khana Local Government Area of the state.
Iyofor further called on the law enforcement agencies to fish out those responsible for the kidnap and ensure Mr. Freddy Ndigbara was released unharmed.
Information available to the Press Unit has it that the gun men stormed Kaani community and shot sporadically into the air where members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were about holding a ward campaign rally before abducting Ndigbara.
“I strongly condemn this dastardly act and call on the abductors to release him immediately and unconditionally. Mr Freddy Ndigbara is a civil servant working in the Press Unit of Government House. Why would anyone think of kidnapping him? Let me also use this opportunity to call on the police and other security agencies to see to the rescue of this gentleman and fish out those behind this inhuman act”, Iyofor said.
