Rivers NUJ Felicitates With Pioneer Chairman At 70
The Nigeria Union of
Journalists, NUJ, Rivers State Council has felicitated with one of its founding fathers and pioneer Chairman of the Union Chief Wofuru Ogazile Okparaolu on his 70th birthday anniversary.
According to correspondence made available to the Union, the event will take place on Saturday the 20th of December, 2014 at his home town Ndele in Emohua Local Government Area by noon.
The NUJ in a statement issued by its Chairman, Mr. Opaka Dokubo and the Secretary, Mr. Stanley Job Stanley described Chief Okparaolu as a diligent and hard working veteran whose commitment to service to mankind has earned him the position of the president, League of Veteran Journalists, Rivers State Chapter.
The NUJ expressed happiness to God for blessing Chief Okparaolu with good health even at the age of seventy years and prayed that their pioneer Chairman should live to see his great, great grand children.
The statement enjoined all practicing journalists in the State to show solidarity to this great leader by attending the ceremony enmass.
Meanwhile, Chief Okparaolu has decided to use the occasion to open a library project he embarked upon as well as provide avenue for journalists in the State to take a retrospective look at the profesion and chart a way forward.
