84 Traffic Offenders Convicted In Delta — FRSC
The Federal Road
Safety Commission (FRSC) has secured conviction of 84 traffic rule violators in Delta, the Head of Operations, Delta Sector Command, Mr David Doherty, said.
He told newsmen in Asaba that the offenders were convicted for violating rules and regulations on light signs, overloading and use of worn-out tyres, among others.
He said 56 of the convicts were among the 61motorists apprehended in Asaba, while 28 were among the 31 offenders arrested in Issele-Uku.
The head of operations said eight persons were cautioned and discharged.
He added that fines for the offences ranged between N500 and N1,200, adding that the conviction would serve as deterrent to other road users.
Doherty said the command had embarked on operations aimed at reducing road crashes in the state, especially during the yuletide.
He advised motorists to endeavour to obey traffic rules and regulations to avoid being arrested or getting involved in road traffic crashes.
