RSG Seeks Joint Effort To Reduce Unemployment

The Rivers state Government has charged corporate organizations, philanthropists and well-endowed institutions to join hands with government in efforts to eradicate unemployment and create enabling environment for robust economic activities to thrive in the society.
Speaking at a three-day capacity building and sensitization workshop for gospel ministers organized by the Job Seekers Fellowship in Christ International Permanent secretary, Ministry of Employment Generation and Employment, (JOSEF) in Port Harcourt, Mrs Comfort Iragunima said that eradicating unemployment in the society requires the joint effort of all stakeholders.
The Permanent Secretary, who is the pioneer president of the fellowship, said that the workshop was to enable stakeholders rob minds on matters of crucial importance to the society.
In her words, “the purpose of the workshop is to enable us rob minds on matters of crucial importance as key players in God’s play field in this end time”.
Also speaking, the Dean, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, His Grace, Most Rev. Ignatius kattey, who flagged off the ceremony, said that the platform provided a conducive environment for pursuit of common goal that would solve the problems of insecurity in Nigeria.
Most. Rev. Kattey, who is also the Bishop, Diocese of Niger Delta North, said that violence was not the best option to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency in the North.
He urged Christians to intercede through prayers for God’s intervention, and also advised all to love one another.
The clergyman also called on Christians to propagate the gospel of practical peace and love, and described the programme as appropriate forum to match forward to meeting the challenging factor as they affect the society.
Chairman of the occasion, Engr. Cyril Harry urged Church leaders to not only address issues of spiritual growth, but economic growth through agriculture for poverty eradication.
He also urged them to preach the message of JOSEF round the 23 local government areas.
The programme featured talks, exhortations and presentations by resource persons.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
