Thursday held a special prayer summit for the release of more than 200 abducted school girls at the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno, in April.
The prayers summit, which was organised by the wife of Delta Governor, Mrs Roli Uduaghan, was premised on the nation’s peace and security as well as the release of the missing girls.
Declaring the summit opened in Asaba, Uduaghan stressed the need for women in the country to be consistent in prayers for the country’s stability.
She stated that it was the responsibility of women to continuously pray for the protection of their families, peace, unity and progress of the nation.
Uduaghan also appealed to all Nigerians to return to God in prayers and ask for His mercy upon the populace.
In his speech, the state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Rev. Gideon Oyibo, urged Nigerians not to apportion blame but to join hands in praying for peace and security of the country.
“This is not the time to blame one another for the present situation in the country. “And whatever the nation is going through today, will surely be a thing of the past if everybody can join hands together to pray for the nation,’’ he said.
The prayer summit attracted no fewer than 300 women from the 25 local government areas of the state.
