Commissioner Cautions Bayelsans On Healthy Living

missioner for Health, Dr Ayibatonye Owei, has advised indigenes of the state to embrace healthy living by supporting the government’s on-going campaign against poor health.
Owei, who gave the advice in an interview in Odi, Kolokuma/Opukumo Local Government Area of the state urged them to cultivate healthy living habits.
He explained that custodial care could go a long way in improving the health of the people.
“The people themselves must also be interested in that which concerns health; apply some pressure on government because government has a lot of obligations all over (the place). “Government does not have the fund today to be able to take care of all the health facilities in the whole state because of limitation of funds,” he said.
“I must say that we haven’t done enough for Odi people, but fortunately there is restoration for the health sector and that is the purpose of my visit here.
“To be able to restore the health sector in Baylesa state, we must be pro-active, we must take the bull by the horn.
“We ensure that this health facility is given a face lift. We will go back to the drawing board to have a team of expert to come and make a thorough assessment of this facility so that we can give to Odi people hospital,” he added.
The commissioner described good health as imperative to human transformation and urged O di indigenes to take advantage of the state government’s plan to develop the health sector.
He, however, advised health workers in the state to be dedicated to the effective discharge of their duties.
