LMC Relaxes Stance On League Requirements
With several clubs
still struggling to meet with the requirements and pre-conditions of the league which kicks-off next week, the League Management Company (LMC) has made considerations on its demands in order to enable the Nigeria League to resume as scheduled.
At the consultative meeting held in Abuja, the LMC reiterated that the provision of Performance Guarantee of N100 million from an approved financial institution remains an irrevocable requirement for registration to participate in the 2013/2014 league season.
However, instead of paying the guarantee in one lump sum, clubs are allowed to pay in quarterly instalments of N25 million and any defaulting club shall be liable to forfeiture of six points, six goals and a further withholding of the defaulting club’s financial entitlement from the sponsorship rights.
The LMC also waived the payment of registration fees and insurance premium by clubs, instead the LMC would subscribe to an enhanced insurance policy covering all players and match officials for the 2013/14 season.
LMC chairman, Nduka Irabor, however, urged the clubs to take advantage of the waivers to improve the welfare of players and officials.
