More Varsity Students Get Senator’s Scholarship
In continuation of his final year intervention scheme for students of the Rivers South East Senatorial Zone in Tertiary Institutions, the Senator representing the zone in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe has awarded scholarship to additional 70 final year students from the zone in the Ignatius Aguru University of Education.
Speaking during the award ceremony at the main campus of the university at Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Senator Abe said that the gesture was in line with his promise to support 300 final year students from the zone through scholarships award yearly.
The Senator who was representing by the Facilitator Student Desk office of the Senator, Mr Kadilo Kabari said that the final year intervention scheme was initiated by the Senator to assist this category of students to meet up their financial obligation to their respective school authorities.
According to him, the scheme is for the best stressing that it would challenge more final year students from the zone to put in their best.
He urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by putting in their best in the pursuit of their educational careers, and urged them to shun all forms of deviant behaviours as that will make them responsible men and women.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Ndaaye Barikuma, a final year political science student, described the gesture as the first of its kind in the zone.
Barikuma lauded Senator Abe’s support for students from the zone and other parts of the state and assured of the total support of the students to the Senator.
Also speaking, Miss Owupa Blessing Dakubie from Opobo/Nkoro local government area, said that it was the first time students from the zone are benefitting from their representative.
She said that the students will continue to pray for the Senator to succeed in all his political endeavour.
