David West Replies Amaechi’s Critics
All the issues raised by the oppositions within and outside Rivers State against the Rivers State Governor ,Rt.Hon Chibuike Amaechi were all false and nonsense.
Former Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Power ,Prof. Tam David West who stated this in Port Harcourt in a Radio programme, ‘’View Point’’ said the Governor had done well for the people of Kalabari kingdom and the entire state as he lambasted Kalabari indigenes who were not happy with the Chiefs and Elders of the Kingdom who paid a solidarity visit to the Governor last week.
Prof David West noted that Amaechi had not only re awarded the Trans-Kalabari road, but had established a Fish Farm and built infrastructures in Kalabari Kingdom .
He noted that the establishment of the Fish Farm would lead to development and in no distant time start yielding dividends such as employment and revenue for both the Kalabari and the entire state.
According to him,’’It is very unfortunate that those who criticise the Governor do so blindly without research .They are looking for ways to call a dog a bad name in order to kill it’’.
Amaechi may have not transformed the Kalabari Kingdom , but he has started something and we should realise that government is a continuous process. Those who said he has not done anything are unfair and liars ’’, he said.
He disagreed with Alhaji Asari Dokubo and Chief Edwin Clark that the 53 per cent of oil blocks were with Northerners, noting that such claims were not true.
‘’ I do not speak frivolously, I speak with fasts and figures ,I said again is not true that 53 per cent of the oil block are with the Northerns.they should present facts.
The Professor of Virology went further to state that the likes of Chief Edwin Clark and Asari Dokubo could not return President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 as the president of Nigeria ,insisting that the President cannot go beyond 2015.
He descried Chief Clark and Dokubo as praise singers and who would not help President Goodluck Jonathan to actualise his political ambition in 2015 as the President of Nigeria.
The university lecturer recalled that he suffered for crime he never committed, noting that he spent six months in detention before the court quashed the case.’’ I never accepted a wrist watch as a bribe. How can I accept such a gift when I was a minister.
David West however, disagreed with calls for all the South South people to support Dr Goodluck Jonathan’s political ambition in 2015,arguing that he could not support anybody who was not fit or may not fit for a position.
‘’My brothers should know that when you become a president ,it is not for South South alone,so we should support the person that can lead the country well.I cannot see white and say it is black’’,he said.
