Riv Poly Set To Commence e-Library Operations
The Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori, says arrangements are in top gear to commence e-library and other internet services in the campus.
The Rector of the school, Dr. Obianko Wolu-Elechi, said this last Thursday during the 25th combined matriculation ceremony in Bori.
He said since the world has become a global village, with Internet as a highway of communication, the school has no option than to join the moving train.
Wolu-Elechi noted that modern education required a good computer background, and that the need for the students to strive for computer literacy cannot be over-emphasised.
He also hinted that updated Information and Communication Technology centres are operational in the school.
According to him, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in line with the modern education pursuit, donated 205 sets of computers to Rivpoly as well as other items from other agencies and commissions.
Further, he said the e-library will be achieved in the nearest future in order to enable the students to commence early learning.
In the same vein, he informed that two-storey building that will house its radio, television and print media is under construction, adding that they are working hard to have a Higher National Diploma (HND) programme for its communication students.
The Tide gathered that the school’s management is striving to address the issue of poor internet work in the campus as to allow the students interact freely with their peers around the globe.
It would be recalled that the Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori was among the first Polytechnics in the country to embark on an e-library system.
