Police Nab Six Airport Robbers
Six men suspected to have participated in the armed robbery operation in which two policemen were killed at the Murtala Muhammed International Aairport, Lagos are now cooling their feet in the cell of Lagos Command of Nigeria Police Force.
The men were said to have been arrested at different locations across the state days after they carried out the robbery which threw the entire international airport into pandemonium.
Commissioner of Police Airports Police Command, Bayo Ajileye, who confirmed the development, said the arrests were made by policemen from the Lagos and the airports commands within Lagos command where they came from and returned to after the bloody robbery operation.
“Our men and officers have arrested six of the armed robbers who came to rob in the airport recently. The arrest was carried out in conjunction with men from the Lagos command. The men are already in the custody of the Lagos command and I think they would soon be paraded,” the Commissioner said
Ajileye, who assumed duty shortly before the robbery took place in the nation’s busiest airport, assured airport users across the country of the safety and security of their lives and properties within and outside the airports at all times.
He explained that the police had improved on surveillance, patrol and intelligence gathering in all airports across Nigeria.
He said that no Bureau de Change operator would be allowed to operate outside the areas designated for their operations in the airports.
He warned that anyone caught violating the regulations would be arrested and charged to court immediately while the money would be impounded.
“We are assuring all airports users and passengers that the security situation in all airports across the country has been improved on. We have improved on surveillance, patrol and intelligence gathering around the airports. We are insisting that no Bureau de change operator would be allowed to operate outside the areas designated for their operations anyone of them who violates the directive would be arrested and charged to court immediately while the money is impounded,” Ajileye assured.
