Einstein Produces Five Rivers Scientists
The first phase of the Einstein’s Science Challenge Programme, has produced five young scientists in Rivers State.
The Einstein’s Science Challenge Programme, initiated by the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, G.R.A District 9140 in conjunction with the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) and Cinfores to encourage the teaching and study of science among post primary schools in the state.
The five young scientists includes, Ihejirika Chinedum who emerged the overall winner, Barivule Monubari came second, while Oforibika Diepiriye came third. The rest are; Emmanuel Chibueze and Blessing Amatemeso.
Speaking at the prize giving ceremony in Port Harcourt, the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Rivers State Sustaianble Development Agency (RSSDA), Mr Noble Pepple described the programme as the first of its kind in the State.
Mr Pepple who was represented by the General Manager, Human Resources and Administration, Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency, Mr Tonye Sukubo also said that the overall best scientist of the programme master Ihejirika Chinedum has qualified for the overseas scholarship programme of the agency.
Also speaking, the president, Rotary Club of Port Harcourt G.R.A, Rotarian Virginia Major said that over 1,500 students had applied for the programme which started since August 2012, the number was screened down to one hundred and later reduced to twenty five.
Rotarian Major said that the programme was initiated by the club to provide opportunities for young scientists to showcase their talents.
She said that the programme was held at the Holy Rosary College Port Harcourt to encourage more schools to participate.
The club president commended the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) for sponsoring the programme and the Catholic Diocese of Port Harcourt for providing its facilities at the Holy Rosary College for the programme.
Master Ihejirika Chinedum who emerged the overall winner of the programme credited his success to God.
