Varsity Holds Dedication Service For New Session
An inter-denominational service was on Saturday held at the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, to pray for a successful 2013/2014 academic session.
The service’s theme : ‘’Return to the Lord,’’ taken from the Bible Book of Joel 2:12 – 20, was read to the congregation by Prof. Cordelia Agbebaku, acting Vice-Chancellor of the university.
In his exhortation, Apostle Great Bamidele lauded the management of the university for adopting the culture of laying before the Almighty, every new session, noting that any foundation God participated in could never be shaken.
Speaking on the theme, Bamidele pointed out that sin hinders God’s favour upon people, adding that when people of God repent and return to Him, He is always merciful to forgive and withdraw His punishment.
He described sin as an act that brings shame and disgrace to mankind, admonishing the leaders and the followers to recognise the supremacy of God in their worldly endeavours.
‘’When we get it right with God, the gate of opportunity will open again. “God is ready to change His plans about disaster on those who offend Him if they can return to him in genuine repentance.
‘’The passage that we read in Bible book of Joel, God was asking his people to rend their hearts and not their clothes; this is because genuine repentance is from the heart,’’ he said.
Bamidele admonished the leadership, staff and students of the university to embrace genuine repentance and return to God, as He would cause heavens to bless the institution.
Intercessory prayers were later offered for the acting vice-chancellor, the management, students and other members of the university community.
