Amaechi, Mark Task Editors On Ethics …Congratulate Adesina
President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has congratulated the newly elected President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mr. Femi Adesina just as he tasked the new executives to continue to uphold the ethics of the profession.
Senator Mark, in his congratulatory message to the 49th President of the NGE, Adesina and other executive members, noted that journalism as a profession has played a very pioneering role in protecting our nation’s democracy
He commended the election that produced Adesina, saying it was a display of fairness and genuineness while urging him to see his emergence as an opportunity to enrich journalism profession more through his wealth of experience.
In a press release signed by the Special Adviser to the Senate President on Media, Kola Ologbodiyan, Mark urged the new NGE president to live up to the expectations of his exalted position in the Guild
“As you emerged in a free and fair election, you should live up to the billing of Nigeria Guild of Editors. It is non-partisan and non-tribalistic entity. So, I urge you and other executives to uphold the sanctity of the noble profession”, Mark stated
The Senate President commended the immediate past President, Gbenga Adefaye ‘s tenure noting that he gave his best for the profession, saying he would be remembered for a peaceful tenure in office.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi has congratulated the new President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Mr Femi Adesina, over his election as the new president of the guild.
Amaechi, who is also the chairman, Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), hailed Adesina on his emergence in a free and fair election of the guild last weekend.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr David Iyofor, Amaechi commended Adesina on his sterling attributes, and wished him a successful term at the helm of the guild.
He expressed confidence that the new leadership will take the guild to greater heights.
“I also believe that his tenure would well represent the Nigerian Guild of Editors and cause an increase in professionalism in the guild and amongst its members,” Amaechi said.
