LG Polls: NGO Tasks Electorate On Credible Candidates
The Coordinator, Edo in Safe Hands, an NGO, Mr Morrison Ovia, has called on the people of Edo to vote credible candidates during the next local council elelctions in the state.
Ovia said on Tuesday in Benin that his organisation would embark on sensitisation tour of all the local government areas to talk about who a true leader should be.
He added that in so doing, the people would be able to vote for the right person, who would bring development to them.
“There is the need to elect candidates, who are selfless and have the interest of the people at heart in Edo councils’ polls to complement development strides of Gov. Adams Oshiomhole,” Ovia said.
He said that it was now obvious that the peoples’ votes counted in the state, and as such, his organisation would ensure that Edo remained in safe hands at both state and council levels.
“Looking at how the past leaders have served in the councils, majority of them have nothing to show in terms of the development of infrastructure during their tenure. “We are not ready to give room again to same leaders, who think of themselves alone without remembering the people, who voted them into power,” he said.
Ovia thanked the people of Edo for making a good choice by voting Oshiomhole in the just-concluded state governorship polls.
