Oyo To Purchase 100 Buses
The Oyo State Government is to purchase 100 new buses to boost transportation in the state.
The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr Yunus Akintunde who announced this at a media briefing in Ibadan said the buses would be distributed to all the 33 local government areas to reduce the cost of transportation.
He also said government was constructing two modern garages at Podo and Temidire on New Ife road in Ibadan metropolis at the cost of 250.7 million.
This, he said, was to decongest the road sides of indiscriminate motor parks created by transporters.
He explained that the new garages would be equipped with adequate infrastructure to provide conveniences for traellers.
The commissioner explained that the concentration of motor parks in one location would help to reduce travel time, prevent accidents and ease traffic jam at the city entrance.
He said the 58 roads awarded by government in February would be inaugurated before the end of May, adding that the contract for the construction of a flyover bridge at Challenge would be signed to improve traffic flow.
Akintunde said government would continue to make the dividends of democracy available to the people and called on the people to support the government.
