W/Cup Qualifier: How Falconets Beat Zimbabwe
Nigeria’s U-20 Women National Team at the weekend at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abeokuta defeated Zimbabwe 3-0 in the first leg, second round of the 2012 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier.
A brace from Francisca Ordega and a goal by Esther Sunday proved enough to silence the Young Mighty Warriors.
Ordega, one of the graduates from the U-17 national team, who also featured in the 2011 Womens World Cup, opened the scoring after 25 minutes.
She struck a minute later in the second period with Sunday wrapping it up in the 55th minute after a perfect combination with midfielder and playmaker, Ngozi Okobi.
The emphatic result means the Falconets are in a handy position to advance ahead of the second leg in Harare.
For their efforts, the young ladies were rewarded with the sum of a N1m by Chief Host and Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
