RVHA Clears 10 New Commissioners
Rivers State House of Assembly, yesterday, cleared the list of nominees submitted by the Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi for screening and appointment as commissioners.
The 10 persons cleared by the state Assembly were, Mrs Joeba West, Dr Sampson Parker, Mr Joe Poroma, Mr Levi Gogo Charles and Mr Marshal Uwom.
Others were, Mr Chuma Chieneye, Barrister Nwogu Boms, Mr Owene Wonodi, Mr Ipalibo Harry and Dr Lloyd Okwu.
The nominees were cleared after fielding questions by members of the Assembly.
Ruling on the issue, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Otelemaba Amachree who presided over the session, congratulated the commissioners-designates for their successful screening.
In a similar vein, the Assembly, also approved the request of the governor for appointment of 15 special advisers in the state.
The governor’s request contained in a letter to the Assembly read in part; “ Pursuant to section 196 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, cap 23, Laws of the Federation, 2004, I write to request your approval to appoint 15 Special Advisers”.
The Assembly also constituted 3 standing committees. The committees are Selection Committee, Rules and Business Committee and Information and Training Committee.
The selection committee is headed by the Speaker, Rt Hon Otelemaba Amachree while all principal officers of the House are to serve as members. The deputy Clerk of the Assembly is to serve as Secretary.
The Rules and Business Committee is headed by the House Leader, Hon Chidi Lloyd, while the deputy Leader, Hon Nname Ewor is the whip, Hon Ikunayi Igbani, deputy Whip, Hon Irene Inimgba, Hon Augustine Ngo of Abua/Odual constituency and Hon Azubuike Nwanjoku of Ikwerre Constituency are to serve as members.
The Information and Training Committee is headed by Hon Onari Brown, Hon Victoria Nyeche, Hon Belema Okpokiri, Hon Golden Chioma and Hon Gift Nwokocha are to serve as members, while Mr Tony Egobueze is to serve as Secretary.
