LG Chairmanship Aspirants Hail PDP Screening
Chairmanship aspirants for Opobo/Nkoro and Gokana local government areas on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Maclean Uranta and Demua Ledee Demua have hailed the recently concluded party screening for aspirants.
Speaking shortly after their screening in Port Harcourt, both Uranta and Demua submitted that the exercise would inject credibility, equity and reduce internal wranglings in the party.
Hon. Uranta, who is taking a second slot at the chairmanship position said the exercise was transparent and would afford the aspirants avenue to articulate their manifestoes in line with the party’s ideology.
The Opobo/Nkoro local government chairman stated that he decided to seek a second tenure in order to complete the laudable projects he commenced in the first three years of his administration.
Hon. Uranta promised to give priority attention to human resource development, stressing that he would evolve a loan scheme for indigenes of the area if given a fresh mandate this year.
Commenting on the Unity Road, Hon Uranta hinted that soon the project would get to Opobo before the year ends, “immediately the 59 metres bridge between Kalaibiama, and Nkoro is completed in the next two months, the other side of the road would be easy to complete.”
He described the recently concluded national elections as a landmark success by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), “unlike before when we used to hear reports of killings and violence but his time, there was no report of such in the Niger Delta”, he said.
Also speaking, Hon. Demua said he was aspiring to lead Gokana local government area in order to sustain the tempo of development in the area.
The Gokana council scribe said he would concentrate on infrastructure development and other human resource empowerment scheme as was done by his predecessor and therefore called on the people of the area to vote for the PDP.
