Assembly Aspirant Urges S’South Govs To Acquire PHCN Facilities
A House of Assembly aspirant in Edo, has urged the South-South governors to acquire the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) facilities in the zone.
The aspirant, Mrs Imomosi Umolu who spoke to reporters on Thursday in Benin, urged them to emulate their South-East counterparts who acquired such facilities in Enugu.
Umolu is vying for the Assembly seat on the platform of the Action Congress to represent Etsako East Constituency.
She praised the action of the South East governors and appealed to South-South governors to follow suit, as it will boost development in the area.
“Acquiring PHCN facilities will not only solve the perennial power problems in the South-South region, but will also help to ensure that ailing industries are fully resuscitated,’’ she said.
She noted that boosting power supply in the zone was one of the recommendations of the South-South Economic Summit report submitted by the Pat Utomi panel.
The aspirant also noted that finding a lasting solution to power problem in the country does not lie with the presidency alone.
She said the various state governors have a duty and responsibility to complement the Federal Government’s plans to resuscitate the power sector.
