Gov Flays Doctors Over Dress Code
Governor. Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State on Thursday chided some medical practitioners over their mode of dressing and attitude to work.
The governor made the observation in Asaba when the editorial team of Edo Doctors Update and Magazine visited him.
Uduaghan said the medical profession was noble and that its professional ethics must be observed.
He said: “The medical profession is a noble one and has deep-rooted tradition, which the practitioners must portray at all times.
“Young doctors should not drag the name of the profession into the mud. The attitude of some young medical doctors is nothing to write home about.
“This is a respected to profession. Doctors should be role models in cultivating good relationship with humanity.”
He appealed to the practitioners to play active roles in politics
“because you are mentally and professionally equipped to do so”.
In his speech, the team Leader, Dr Enabulele Osaghor, said the association made significant progress in rebranding the profession to create what he termed “a new identity for doctors’’.
He said the national body of the association was determined to pick role models among the nation’s medical practitioners for honours.
Osaghor described Uduaghan as “a dependable medical elder and an icon of the profession’
He said the Edo chapter of the association would build a new secretariat and appealed to the governor to support the project.
