Minister Commends Work Standard At Asaba Int’l Airport
The Minister of Aviation, Mr Babatunde Omotoba, has expressed satisfaction at the pace and standard of work at the ongoing Asaba International Airport project, expected to come on stream by first quarter of 2010.
Omotoba, during an inspection visit to the project, accompanied by the Delta State Deputy Governor, Professor Amos Utuama (SAN), viewed the project as a demonstration of the vision the Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan-led administration has for the state.
His words, “First I like to congratulate the people of Delta State for making a good choice in choosing a visionary leader in your governor who has made a wise decision by building an international airport in Asaba.”
“I have gone through the work you have done up to date and I must tell you that I’m very pleased. This is a good example of putting your money where your mouth belongs.”
“ I want to assure you and the people of Delta State that we are going to provide all the support that you need to ensure that you deliver this dividend of democracy not only to the people of Delta State but to the people of this country.”
Omotoba informed, “before I came to Asaba today, I was in Port Harcourt and the total radar coverage project for Nigeria, the Port Harcourt section of it has been completed.
“With that completion, right from Port Harcourt we can see Asaba. Once we complete every airport flying around this area we can vector them to land safely and risk of mid air collision is reduced to zero.”
Utuama, on his part, observed that the Asaba International Airport, expected to come on stream by the first quarter of next year, has already started to gain international attention before completion.
“You would also want to know that the Asaba Airport even though not completed is enjoying international recognition worldwide. The recent conference on aviation in Atlanta by your very grace it was one of the airports that was selected for attention in Nigeria.
