FG Provides Vaccines For Muslim Pilgrims
As airlifting of Muslim pilgrims to the holy land of Saudi Arabia nears conclusion, the government has provided about 20,000 doses of vaccines for all Nigerian pilgrims.
The vaccines which had been sent to the holy land is against swine flu or other related emergency for its citizens at the holy land.
The Amiral Hajj, Senator Kente Bello Mohammed who stated this in an interview at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa shortly after inspecting the hajj operations at Port Harcourt zone, said the government had deployed about 200 medical doctors, nurses and pharmacists to Saudi Arabia, noting that this is to show how responsible the present administration is to its citizens.
Senator Kente Bello also revealed that all safety measures were in place, explaining that all the commissioners including the National hajji commissioner and airlines have copies of the manifest and details of pilgrims travelling documents, so t he issue of absconding will not be possible.
He however, commended the state governor for his effort and support, “despite his religious background, he was able to sponsor more pilgrims from the state.”
Meanwhile, Alhaji Ahmad R. T. Okiri, the Vice President General Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs revealed that about 500 pilgrims are being sponsored by the state government as he commended the governor for the gesture.
Alhaji Okiri urged the pilgrims to be law abiding and be responsible while in the holy land.
