Cleric Tasks Leaders, Christians On Righteousness
The District Pastor of Faith Tabernacle Congregation, Port Harcourt District, Pastor Israel Nyeduko, has called on all public office holders and Christians to first seek the kingdom of God and its righteousness.
Pastor Nyeduko made the call during a special service held at the Ogu station of the church last Sunday.
Taking his text from Matthew chapter 6 verses 33, the clergy enjoined all to shun sins and uphold truth, adding that they should be faithful to God and obey his commandments.
He noted that “when the righteous rules, the people rejoice and the society will be peaceful with progress and development”.
In their welcome address, signed by Pastor Nyeduko on behalf of the pastors and members of Okrika/Ogu district, and read by Pastor Gift the pastors charged the chairman to see his leadership as an appointment from God, and should do service to God and mankind, adding that the tasks of governance is challenging as most people are ignorant of the art of administration and the dynamics of governance, “but with God’s wisdom and grace, you can scale through”.
They also charged him to see his opponents as future friends and the critics as instruments of correction and that the ability to convert them would make him an outstanding leader worthy of emulation.
“As a leader ready to serve, be a servant leader, and God would promote you, for promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south,” they said.
They, however, congratulated him on his victory at the polls and subsequent assumption of office and also lauded Governor of Rivers State, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for his developmental strides.
The pastor also called on youths to shun all forms of violence, embrace God and support the government to enhance further development.
In his response, the chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Hon Lawrence Abiebiari said he was touched by the Holy Spirit to worship with the church and was delighted over everything.
He appealed toGod’s wisdom and directives to ensure peace, harmony and development.
Hon Abiebiari noted that the people of Ogu had benefited from the church through the water in their well which served as the only source of drinkable water for a long time in the past, and their prayers for the community.
He promised to assist the church in the renovation of their parsonage and empowerment for widows in the church.
