Residents Want Prompt Passage Of 2020 Budget
A cross section of Damaturu residents have appealed to the National Assembly to ensure prompt passage of the 2020 budget and full implementation by the Federal Government.
The residents made the call yesterday in separate interviews with newsmen in Damaturu.
Malam Musa Katuzu, a senior civil servant, said “there is need to rectify Nigeria’s distorted financial year to henceforth commence from January and end in December.’’
Similarly, Musa Mohammed, a civil servant, also said that All Progressives Congress (APC) administration would have no excuse for failure this time because, it was in control of both the executive and legislature.
“This is a challenge for the APC-led government to partner and pass the budget in good time for early and effective implementation, the four year mandate is already counting,” Musa said.
Ali Mohammed, a public affairs analyst, said “the timely presentation of the 2020 budget to national assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari, was an indication that the executive and legislature under the current dispensation are working in harmony.
“Nigerians expect more of this collaboration in the timely passage of the budget and its full implementation by the executive for the benefit of Nigerians,’’ Mohammed said.
Abdullahi Usman, a banker, said the budget should be passed and signed into law before the end of the year to ensure effective implementation at the beginning of 2020.
Bukar Gulani, a businessman, expressed optimism that the leadership of the ninth assembly would provide the required leadership to the legislature to support the executive to improve the lives of Nigerians.
