2019: Kalabari Youth Back Wike
Youths of Kalabari-speaking Asari-Toru Local Government Area have endorsed Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for a second term, assuring that they would work hard to deliver their votes to the performing governor.
The youths of Asari-Toru Local Government Area trooped out in their thousands, last Saturday, marching through the streets of Buguma to shore up support for the governor.
Marching under the platform of ‘One Million Youths for New Rivers State’, the youths sang popular pro-Wike songs and displayed banners that highlighted the achievements of the Rivers State governor.
Speaking during the march at Buguma, National Coordinator of One Million Youths for New Rivers State, Hon. Ehie Edison said that Wike was a promise keeper, hence the decision to re-elect him.
He said that the Rivers State governor has demonstrated his love for youths by supporting the emergence of youths as state legislators, council administrators and councillors.
“He has shown a high love of youths, and therefore, majority of our lawmakers, council chairmen and councillors are youths. We have decided that in 2019, Governor Wike will be re-elected”.
The national coordinator stated that Rivers youths would also vote in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the current President, Muhammadu Buhari has failed woefully.
The Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Odiari Princewill said that ASALGA was PDP and the people would vote all PDP candidates in 2019.
He said that the PDP would never lose an election in the area because of the achievements of Wike.
In his remarks, Secretary General of One Million Youths for New Rivers State, Hon Major Jack urged Rivers youths to sustain their support for Wike, and noted that the re-election of the governor would be actualized in 2019.
Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Special Projects, Alabo George Kerley said 2019 would be an action year when PDP would win 100 per cent with the people defending their votes.
He assured that Wike would win in 2019, urging the people to give their total support to the PDP.
Member Representing Asari-Toru Constituency Two, Hon. Enemi Alabo George said in Asari-Toru Local Government Area, PDP was the only political party on ground because of the high level performance of the governor.
Women and youths, who spoke in an interview, re-affirmed their commitment to the re-election of Wike in 2019.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
