Class Head Applauds Dean’s Leadership Style
The class 2018 representative of Law Students in Rivers State University, Hon. Alalibo Briggs, has commended the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Ovunda V. C. Okene over what he described as sterling leadership qualities.
Briggs made the commendation last Friday while speaking in an exclusive interview with The Tide in the school premises.
He said that the leadership of Okene was part of the reasons why their set concluded academic activities within a record time.
According to him, when one with such leadership acumen is on board, other protocols would obey, thereby moving the system forward.
He expressed hope that his set would be in law school by October/November this year, given the level of preparation on ground.
The 2018 class leader, recalled that the school has been top on law school activities, added that with the present dean, things would work out finer.
On whether there was need to improve on the mode of operation at the law faculty, he answered in the affirmative, saying that it must be adjusted until it was ranked top among law faculties in the country.
He had also appealed with the management of the institution, to ensure that the attention given to law faculty was also recorded in other faculties.
Other students, who expressed satisfaction with the leadership style of Hon. Briggs, said that he has so far proved his salt at the entire faculty.
They recalled how he personally intervened to ensure that the 2018 class first semester examination was postponed when students complained of short notice.
Another point credited to him, was the hitch free law students association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) 2016/2017 session that he served as the Eleco Chairman.
Meanwhile, they have appealed with the Rivers State Government, to assist them with law school payment, and hinted that they were denied bursary allowance since their year one.
