CAF CL: Zamalek Drops Skipper, Names Nigerian For Enyimba
Zamalek has left out injury-
hit skipper Mahmoud Shikabala, but named Nigeria’s Moruf Youssef and Zambia forward Emmanuel Mayuka on a 19-man squad for Sunday’s CAF Champions League Group B tie at Enyimba.
Playmaker Ayman Hefny has also been left because of injury.
Nigerian Moruf Youssef is also on the squad to Port Harcourt as are several Egypt internationals including goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawy and Hamada Tolba.
The Egyptian champions will be counting on former Southampton striker Mayuka for goals in Nigeria against Enyimba.
The Champions League group game will be played on Sunday and kick-off time is 4pm local time.
Meanwhile, Enyimba Captain, Chinedu Udoji, who was nursing a knock has declared himself fit for the encounter in Port Harcourt.
Meanwhile, Enyimba goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai has said he hopes his team start their Champions League Group B campaign with a win this weekend.
The Nigerian champions host five-time African champions Zamalek on Sunday at the Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium in Port Harcourt and Afelokhai has been bullish ahead of the game.
“We hope to start the competition well by winning, but we also understand we have a good team as opponents,” he told newsmen.
“They have won the competition several times and they will be coming with a lot of confidence and experience and we must be ready for that.”
Enyimba are themselves two-time champions of the competition and Afelokhai posited that it will be a tight encounter.
“I think it will be tight, because we are also former champions of the competition and they will have that at the back of their minds too,” he predicted.
