Banigo Marks Christmas With Orphans …Honours Retirees
It was a fun filled day as the Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs). Ipalibo Harry Banigo, spent time with Orphan children in the State as part of her Christmas celebration.
The Christmas party which held in the Deputy Governor’s Lodge had orphans from various homes, especially that of Azibaola Charity Foundation, Port Harcourt.
Dr. Banigo said the essence of the party was to show that Christmas is a time for love and sharing, especially for the needy.
“It is good to provide for less fortunate children in the Society.” She emphasized.
She charged well-meaning individuals in society to always reach out to the less privilege so as to give them a sense of belonging.
According to her, Christmas is a time to remember the abused, abandoned and depressed in society and to bring joy to them.
The Deputy Governor later danced with the children and presented gift items to them
In another development, Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo last midweek honoured 10 staff of her office who retired after meritorious service in Government House, Port Harcourt.
Dr. Banigo who organisaed a Christmas Choral, End of Year Party and sendforth for staff and retirees, expressed appreciation to the retirees for their dedication and sacrifice while in service.
She said the programme was an avenue for interaction among workers and advised the retirees to employ the same level of dedication in their future endeavours to sustain the standard already attained.
The Deputy Governor said the party provided her an opportunity to exchange felicitations with her staff noting that Christmas is a period of sharing goodwill and expression of love.
Dr. Banigo used the occasion to thank the staff for their hardwork and dedication to duty and wished them a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
In a brief exhortation, the Special Adviser to the Deputy Governor on Legal Matters, Mr. Ishmael Blue-Jack, urged Christians to see Christmas as a period of sober reflection and emphasized the need for Believers to build treasures in Heaven, stressing that earthly pleasures would not guarantee eternal life.
