Kidnappers Drop Ransom For LP Chairman’s Wife To N3m
The N50 million naira ransom earlier demanded by abductors of Mrs Uche Sam Oraegbunam, wife of the Anambra state chairman of the Labour Party (LP) has been reduced to N3 million.
Our correspondent gathered that family members are now making frantic efforts on how to secure her release from the hoodlums.
However, security and family sources told newsmen at the Weekend in Awka, the Anambra State capital, that efforts were still on to secure her release unharmed and without ransom.
The troubled husband, Sam declined comments but was still appealing to his wife’s abductors to consider his predicament and set her free.
He said the family has been running around to see if they could raise some funds for her release as demanded by her captors.
It would be recalled that the politician’s wife was said to have been abducted in Okpunor area, a suburb of Awka in the afternoon of December 17,2013.
As at the time of her kidnap, the husband was busy attending a meeting of political parties with the management of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), at the commission’s headquarters over the prolonged council election in the state, which has been due May, 2003.
The husband said the ugly incident has thrown the entire family into confusion, especially the children, who are seriously missing their mother.
