Navy Plans Fresh War On N’ Delta Criminals
The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Central Naval Command, Yenagoa, Rear Adm. Sidi-Ali Usman, said yesterday that the command had declared war on criminals in the Niger Delta region.
Usman, who addressed newsmen in Warri, said the command was liaison with communities in the area to effectively stamp out militancy in the region.
“The communities are cooperating because they know the aim is also beneficial to them,’’ he said.
Usman said the command had achieved remarkable success in the war against criminals in the Niger Delta since his assumption of office as the flag officer commanding.
He said the command would sustain the tempo by maintaining the status quo.
“I intend to sustain the present feat of success by maintaining the strategy which I put in place on resumption of command.
“The strategy is yielding good result; I will keep it within myself, because if I decide to make it a public consumption, there is tendency that the aim will be defeated.
“We will continue to sustain it to achieve greater height.’’
Usman, who also inspected some Naval facilities in Warri, expressed joy with the conditions of the amenities.
The flag officer commanding said the aim of the inspection was to identify some of the facilities that needed attention in order to meet the command’s optimum level of performance.
Some of the facilities inspected by the commandant included the Nigeria Naval Ship, Obula, Nigerian Naval Ship, Zaria, Naval Flying Unit, Fleet Support Group and the Nigerian Navy Hospital, among other facilities.
