Exam Malpractice: COE Trains Ethics Malshals
The Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, Enugu State, says it has trained and certified 30 examination ethics marshals to check examination malpractice and ensure academic excellence.
Prof. Ben Mbah, the Provost of the college, made this known when he briefed newsmen in Nsukka on Thursday.
“We have trained about 30 certified exam ethics marshals to ensure that students are given good examination orientation, the sale of handouts and unauthorised textbooks attract sanctions in the college”, he said, warning that any student or staff of the institution that involves in examination malpractice will face appropriate sanction”.
He said some projects executed by his administration, include construction of N228 million science complex, N87 million provost lodge, and N200 million School of Social Science complex.
On student’s welfare, the provost said that the college had renovated some hostels; improve on students’ registration, hostel placement, adding that accessing results could be done online.
“Prof Mbah also disclosed that the college has completed entrepreneurial centre that that will enhance the quality of its graduates,’’ he said.
The provost said the institution attached much importance to security, pointing out that management had procured CCTV to improve security in the institution.
“Because of the porous nature of the area we have been sensitising staff and students on the need to be security conscious.
“I commend the staff and students for assisting the management in maintaining security.”
He said that administration would accord priority to training and retraining of staff to enable them to give their best as well as compete favourable with their colleagues in any part of the world.
“Staff welfare has received serious attention as a way of boasting their productivity.’’
The provost, however, listed some of the challenges of institution to include acquiring more accommodation for staff, sinking functional boreholes and rehabilitation of old buildings, among others.
