Stakeholder Faults Ogoni State Proponents
Proponents of Ogoni State in the on-going clamour for creation of more states in the country, have been accused of not consulting the people of Opobo Kingdom before including them in the proposed state.
A stakeholder who hails from Ukonu Polo in Opobo Town, Senibo Paul Ben-Cookey alleged in a statement that the proponents of Ogoni State had not visited or consulted the traditional institution of Opobo or any other interest group for that matter to seek for their support and if necessary, make inputs in the documentations.
He said it was pertinent for the proponents of Ogoni state creation to properly and widely consult the various ethnic nationalities, especially Opobo people that they had included to be part of the state, stressing that inspite of the very cordial and warm relationships the people of Ogoni and Opobo share, “for such a sensitive matter,” our opinion and input must be sought.”
