Indorama Donates To Flood Victims
As part of its corporate social responsibility, Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited (IEPL) has donated various food items to victims of the flood disaster ravaging the nation.
In its first batch of interventions, it has delivered relief materials worth millions of Naira to various camps in Rivers State.
So far, the company has delivered directly to the camps 150 bags of 25Kg rice, 300 cartons of Noodles, 45 bags of 100Kg garri, 40 cartons of tomatoes, 10 cartons of vegetable oil, 15 cartons of powdered milk, 15 cartons of detergent, 4 cartons of Lux soap, 5 cartons of Bar soap, 17 bags of 50Kg beans, 5 cartons of Lipton tea, 5 cartons of sugar, 330 bags of water and bundles of toilet rolls.
Managing Director of Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals, Mr Manish Mundra said: “Our company is touched by the suffering of these victims of this flood disaster. We care for them, and share in their distress. We will continue to do our best to help alleviate their sufferings”.
At Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government area, relief materials were delivered at State School, Okwuzi and Omoku Camps 1 & 2 last Saturday. The Community Development Committee Chairmen, Chiefs’ representatives, Youth leaders and women leaders of Okansu, Mgbede and Agah communities received the materials on behalf of the large crowd of the internally displaced persons.
Personal Assistant to the traditional ruler, Mr Nelson Eburu thanked Indorama-EPL “for this wonderful gesture”.
The company also delivered more relief materials at St Paul’s State Primary School, Ahoada to reach various camps in Ahoada West LGA.The items were handed over to a representative of the LGA Chairman, Hon. Eric Robinson who is the Executive Secretary of the Council; the council of paramount rulers represented by HRH David Chigereme, etc.
Mr. Robinson thanked the company for being so kind and caring and called on other companies in the state to emulate the footsteps of Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals.
According to IEPL’s Head of Community Relations & Development, Mr. Kendrick Oluka, “at each camp, we were greeted with warm reception and clapping ovation upon the sight of the relief materials”.
Other LGAs in Rivers State identified for this intervention include Ahoada East and Abua/Odual LGA. About 19,000 persons are being affected in the four LGAs of Rivers State by the flood disaster.
Said Sir Jossy Nkwocha, Head of Corporate Communications and Special Adviser to the Managing Director: “Although these people are not from our host communities, our company as a good corporate citizen of Rivers State and Nigeria, considers it important to care for the victims of the flood disaster.”
