PH Film Awards Holds ’Morrow
Movie stars across the country will storm Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, for the maiden edition of RIVINFO Competition Award Night to be held tomorrow at the Silverbird Gallery, former Obi-Wali Cultural Centre along Abonnema Wharf Road in the state capital.
The chairman of the organizing committee Mr. Paulinus Nsirim who disclosed this in an interview with The Tide Entertainment, said all is now set to ensure the success of the event. He stressed that the event is organised by the Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications to revive the creative industry in Rivers State and engage the youths meaningfully in order to check unemployment and youth restiveness in the state.
He reiterated that the theme of the event “Dangers of Illegal Bunkering” was to draw the attention of the Non-governmental Organisations (NGO), communities and oil companies to the dangers of illegal bunkering. He expressed hope that subsequent editions would address other social problems.
The chairman recalled that two films from the competition namely “Dark Quest” and ‘Red line’ were screened at the Zuma International Film Festival Abuja, while 13 entries were received in this maiden competition.
