Bayelsa PDP Expels Three Members
Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced the expulsion of its three chieftains accusing them of indiscipline, anti-party activities and other actions capable of bringing disrepute to the party.
The expelled members are Koku Gariga, Ineye Ingbaifegha and Selekebina Saboh.
State Chairman of the party, Col. Sam Inokoba (Rtd.) who disclosed this to journalists Wednesday at a press briefing in Yenagoa, said they committed acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute and ridicule.
Fourteen state party executives including the state chairman and secretary, Keku Godpower signed the expulsion letter expelling the recalcitrant members.
Inokoba said the expelled members forcefully took over office of the council in Sagbama,Kolokuma/Opokuma and Ekeremor local governments and causing factions within the party
“After thorough scrutiny of the disciplinary committee’s report and recommendations , we adopted same, thus in keeping faith with our earlier promise that the findings would be made public,” he stressed.
He said:”They are hereby expelled from the party in line with Articles nine and 21 of the constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)as amended. The sanctions are aimed at instilling party indiscipline ,order and the need to respect law and the constitutional process.”
Inokoba noted that the party stalwarts were invited by the disciplinary committee for a fair hearing but they declined .
Answering a question Col.Inokoba said plans have been concluded to reconcile all members who were aggrieved saying that, this does not mean that those show outright indiscipline and lack of rest to the party would not be sanctions according to its constitution.
The woes of the expelle members, The Tide would recalled, started when they contested the party’s primary to vie for local government chairmanship position of their respectively local government councils.
After they had been given flags, they were schemed out by Chief Timpipre Sylva who was then the State governor. They later went to court and lost, but Federal Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt, in March ordered that Gariga, Ingbaifegha and Saboh been sworn in as the bona fide Chairmen of Sagbama, Kolokuma/Opokuma and Ekeremor councils.
