Police Nab Robbery King Pin In Omuma
The leader of a suspected kidnap and armed robbery gang which has been terrorising Omuma Local Government Area and its environs, Joe Nwosu popularly called “Otoko” has been arrested by the police in Rivers State.
The suspect who hails for Mudike Umuogba in Omuma Local Government was said to have been on the wanted list of the Police authority in the state. He is responsible for several criminal activities taking place in the area and other neighbouring communities, in recent times.
A source has it that the kidnap gang leader and armed robbery suspect was arrested by the police at his hide-out in Port Harcourt, following a tip off.
According to the source, the suspect was taken to the palace of the paramount ruler of the area as well as the local government secretariat for public display, adding that people trooped out from various communities to take a glance of the man who was responsible for their ordeal.
The Tide learnt that there was jubilation around the local government area especially in his home town, Umudike Umuogba community over the arrest of the man described as a heartless armed robber.
The Tide further learnt that the suspect was the 3rd general in the dreaded late Osisikankwu militia gang in Abia State that was later dislodged by the Joint Military Task Force (JTF), last year.
Reacting to the arrest of the robbery leader, an indigene of the area, Mr Sunday Onyemachi said the suspect was last year declared personal non grata by the community over his vicious acts, adding that the entire people deserted the community because of the activities of the suspects.
When contacted on phone, the police public Relations Officer, DSP Ben Ugwuegbulam said he was yet to get the details of the arrest from the DPO in charge of Omuma divisional police headquarters.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
