NIMASA Tasks Trainees On Quality Representation
The co-ordinator, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Eastern Zone, Mr Olayemi Abass, has enjoined beneficiaries of the Saipem sponsored trainees in preparation on board sea vessels to be good ambassadors of the agency.
Mr Abass who gave the advise while introducing the beneficiaries to officers of the agency at the conference room of the zonal Headquarters in Port Harcourt last Thursday said they should count themselves lucky to have led such an opportunity among 15-others that were initially invited for the training.
According to him, their commitment to duties would enhance opportunity for them to also benefit, saying NIMASA would be proud to facilitate and recommend them to Saipem for such training.
He charged them to exhibit total commitment to duty and character worthy of note, adding that, “Do not be a bad egg but do your best and show exemplary qualities of 100 per cent performance, so that Saipen will be willing to accept our recommendations and sponsor more trainees, which will be our pride as partners.”
The co-ordinator commended them for successfully completing their training and expressed confidence that they would live up to expectation.
He also thanked Saipem and Charking Maritime Safety Centre, Port Harcourt for the sponsorship and training the beneficiaries, which he said would improve their proficiency.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Engr Eric Oyem said it was a surprise package for them to represent Nigeria and NIMASA in the Maritime Industry, and assured that as competent seafarers, they would prove that Nigerians can compete favourable with other countries on Maritime, assuring that they would uphold their dignity and reputation by making NIMASA and the country proud.
