No Arsenal Deal For Taiwo
Taye Taiwo’s agent has admitted that a move to Arsenal for his player looks unlikely.
The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all believed to be showing interest before he decided to join Milan from Marseille during the summer.
An injury crisis in Arsenal’s back-line fuelled rumours that manager Arsene Wenger is scouring the market for defensive cover, and with Taiwo currently struggling to force his way into the Milan starting XI, a move to north London could be ideal for both parties.
However, Fabio Parisi, agent to the Nigeria international, revealed there has been no contact between the club and himself.
He said “At the moment there is no huge news about Nigerian players, with Arsenal there was only a rumour.
“I certainly don’t know that Arsene Wenger is looking for a left-back but at this time there has not been any official offer at AC Milan.”
It was claimed early in the week that Taiwo was a loan target of Arsenal in the January transfer window.
The reports further added that the Former Lobi Stars and Gabros FC ace is under contract with the Italian Champions until the summer of 2014, but could leave the San Siro outfit after failing to adapt to the pace of the Serie A.
Fulham, Stoke City, Liverpool and Newcastle United are Taiwo’s other admirers in England.
