Giadom’s Appointment Excites Ogoni Students
The National Union of Ogoni Students, NUOS, has pledged its support to Governor Amaechi’s administration, especially in the area of security and youth’s empowerment.
Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt recently, President of the Union, Comrade Emmanuel Bieh, said the body had already offered its platform for the sensitisation and re-integration of youths against vices to beneficial citizens.
Comrade Bieh expressed satisfaction over the recent appointment of the former chairman of Gokana local Government, Chief Victor Giadom, as Rivers State Commissioner for Works.
He said Chief Giadom as the chairman of Gokana local government, served his term satisfactorily to the admiration of the people of Gokana and the entire Ogoni people.
The NUOS boss pointed out that Chief Giadom’s appointment will in much measure impact positively on the development of the state.
Also speaking, the Public Relations Officer of the union, Mr. Anthony Nwanikpo pledged the support of the Ogoni students to the Governor Amaechi’s administration. He said Governor Amaechi had demonstrated to be a dependable leader deserving the support of all Ogoni students.
A stakeholder of the union, Comrade Meedubari Kpuinen also assured the support of the Ogoni students to the Rivers state Government, and commended the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi for appointing men and women of integrity into positions of trust.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
