Chief Coach of Rivers State Karate Association leader Yacob Kignsley O. Ewelie has called on karatekas in the state to participate in the forth-coming karate updating course billed to commence on 14th through 19th of this month in Port Harcourt.
Ewelie made the call during the just-concluded karate course organised by Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), in conjunction with Nigeria Karate Referees Federation.
According to him, the course would to help to provide officials the needed relevance experience in officiating in national karate events.
He continued that there will be a mini tournament to test the performance of already trained referees.
He stated that the officials obtained grade ABDE and grade F after the course.
He explained that grade ‘A’ officials is the most qualified judge in karate followed by B and the other grades ranging from D to E for table officials.
He further noted that the state karate referee commission was formed 3rd March 2004 and commissioned by the state Director of Sports Sir, Daobu Harvest Harry.
It would be recalled that Leader Yacob Kingsley O. Ewelie was elected as chairman Rivers State karate Referee Commission, Peace Adango as Secretary, Ugochukwu Mbaonu assistant secretary and Segun Abode as Public Relations officer.
