Build Foundation For Success, Architect Tells Youths
Youths in the Niger Delta have been admonished to build foundation necessary for attaining success and not be carried away by current cravings for materialism.
This was part of a lecture presented by Mr. Emmanuel Dike at the 6th graduation/prize giving day of the Rosalyn Schools in Woji, Port Harcourt, recently.
Mr. Dike, an architect and principal partner of Dike and Phil Associates Limited based in Port Harcourt said the foundation the youths need include self discipline, honesty and sound education.
Speaking on the topic “A Solid Foundation: The Key to Success”, Mr. Dike particularly advised students to be careful not to allow peer pressures to distract them from upholding the traditional values that sustains the society.
His Words: “Bribes and scams may produce temporary advantages, but the practice carries an enormous price tag.”
He noted that cheating in examination, sorting out and the use of machinery during exams may provide temporary success but, “such result you cannot defend…such foundation is porous and will not benefit the individual on the long run.”
Architect Emmanuel reiterated that laying a solid foundation for success can only be achieved with hard work, faith and commitment.
Earlier in his remarks, the principal of the school Mr. Daniel Johnson said the prize giving day is to encourage the students in the pursuit of excellence.
However, he observed that, “when academic success is achieved through discipline, hard work and faith, it helps the child to cultivate the habits of success which are indispensable for great achievement in any field of endeavour.”
As a purpose driven school, he stated that the vision of the institution, Rosalyn Schools, is to lay solid foundation that would take them to the highest level of intellectual and personal development.
The school began in 1999 and has so far produced six sets of SS3 and eight sets of JS3 that have sat for the SSCE, JSCE exams respectively.
