2018 ACCC: Nigerian Clubs On Losing Side
The 2018 Africa Cups for Club Champions (ACCC) got underway in Abuja at the weekend with six matches being played and two of the four Nigerian clubsides losing their matches.
In the matches played at the Abuja National Stadium, Kada Queens of Nigeria drew goalless with GRA of Ghana in the first match of the day and in the women’s competition.
The Eastern Company of Egypt then whipped Nigeria’s Niger Flickers 4-0 in the male competition.
Aboutaleb Mohmoud scored from a penalty corner in the fifth minute to open scoring for the Egyptians, while Rashwan Mohamed scored a free goal to extend the lead in the 32nd minute.
Ibrahim Amr later scored from two penalty corner kicks in the 43rd and 44thminutes to complete the Minna side’s whitewashing.
Telkom of Kenya beat Ghana Police 2-1 later on in the women’s competition, for the Kenyan side to lead their category.
In the men’s competition also, the male side of GRA of Ghana drew 4-4 with El-Sharkia of Egypt. The Delta Queens of Nigeria drew 1-1 with Kenya’s USIU in the women’s competition, with Esther Billo scoring for the Nigerian side five minutes into the game from a penalty corner.
Pauline Amutebi later drew the Kenyan side level in the 20th minute.
Kada Stars of Nigeria later lost 0-1 to Exchequers of Ghana in the men’s competition, after Emmanuel Ankomah’s fourth minute free goal.
Tidesports source reports that the competition which will end on Dec. 22 continues on Sunday with six matches.
Match Day 2 on Sunday will see three matches each in the male and female categories.
Twelve clubsides are playing in the competition, with six each in the male and female categories of the competition.
Niger Flickers and Kada Stars are representing Nigeria in the male competition, while Delta Queens and Kada Queens are representing the country in the female competition.

PH To Host 2026 NWFL Super Six
In a statement released by the league, the competition is scheduled to take place from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 14, 2026, with six clubs set to battle for the league title at the end of the 2025/26 season.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, said the choice of Port Harcourt reflects the Rivers State Government’s continued support for women’s football and its successful hosting of the league’s Annual General Assembly last year.
The Super Six tournament will feature the top three teams from Group A and Group B of the regular season competing in a round-robin format, with each club playing five matches over nine days.
Qualified teams for the competition include defending champions Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and debutants Abia Angels.
The NWFL Premiership has produced four different winners in the last five editions, with Rivers Angels winning in 2021, Bayelsa Queens claiming the title in 2022 and 2025, Delta Queens triumphing in 2023, and Edo Queens emerging champions in 2024.
The league also urged participating clubs to comply with all competition regulations and directives ahead of the championship. The Super Six will determine Nigeria’s representative for the WAFU-B qualifiers for a place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League and ultimately the 2027 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.
Teams are expected to arrive on Friday, June 5, when the draw ceremony and pre-match meeting will also take place. Matchdays are scheduled for June 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14, with rest days in between before the tournament concludes with the trophy presentation ceremony.
