Mariner Wants RSG To Revive Activities At Marine Base
As part of the New
Rivers Vision, a mariner, Chief Victor Iboroma, has called on the Rivers State Government to revive its marine activities at Marine Base, Port Harcourt.
Iboroma, who made the call in a chat with The Tide in Port Harcourt said it is disheartening to observe that the marine section of the Ministry of Transport had been abandoned and under-utilised.
The Marine expert said even the government boats and the Jetty are in a deplorable condition, and frowned that the section could have been generating fund for the government if revived and facilities put into proper use.
According to him, the area had been abandoned by previous governments but appealed to the present government to also give priority attention to marine transport.
The Marine stakeholder noted that the fleet of government boats at the site are rusting away and not utilised for the purpose they were bought stressing that it is high time that section was revived and given a face-lift for the benefit of Rivers people.
Iboroma emphasised that the abandonment of the area is not in the best interest of the state, and that the government should ensure that the section is alive once again as a listening government that has the interest of the people at heart.
