Fubara Urges Corps Members To Make Positive Impact
The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has enjoined Corps members to strengthen their positive impact in the lives of Nigerians.
He stated this at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Government Area during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch C Stream II orientation course for Corps Members deployed to Rivers State.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Hamilton Amadi, Governor Fubara urged the Corps members to “see Rivers State as a fertile and ideal environment to live and uphold the rich values of the NYSC Scheme.”
He assured the Corps members that his administration will remain “intentional and consistent” in ensuring that their welfare and security are not compromised.
Earlier, the State Coordinator NYSC Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe, had informed the Governor that the Corps members had been well-trained and nurtured to give back their best to the society.
He charged the Corps members, “be disciplined and focused in the task of nation-building and help your host communities address felt needs by embarking on Community Development Service projects.”
The Coordinator thanked the Governor and good people of Rivers State for their uncommon love, goodwill and support to Corps members and the NYSC Scheme.
A total of 2442 Corps members made up of 983 males and 1,459 females successfully completed the 3 – week orientation exercise in the State.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
